Is this the worlds first 3D printed bridge?
She may not be pretty, hell lets not kid ourselves, its down right ugly, but thats the way it was intended.
The Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) developed and created the worlds first 3D printed bridge an was intentionally meant to look ugly. Supposedly "nature" was the theme for the design.
The 3D printed bridge, which reflects the complexities of nature’s forms, was developed through parametric design, which allows to optimize the distribution of materials and minimize the amount of waste by recycling the raw material during manufacture. The computational design also allows to maximize the structural performance
